Music is basically a teenager's life nowadays. I'm not complaining; far from it. Instead, what really grinds my gears is teachers refusing to accept that Music is a part of us and that we'll constantly want to whip it out to listen. Just because we're beyond the era of the gigantic wooden-spinning disk (What the hell is that called? Record Player?) doesn't mean that all of our music is bad, or it distracts us from work.
Let me say that again. "Distracts us from work." WHAT. THE. HELL. It's been proven that music or, more specifically, any sort of rhythm gives a person increased brain activity, creativity, and general Mental Capacity. It perks up the soul, bolsters the resolve, and a ton of little things I don't even have the words for describing.
So bug your teachers, children. Tell them that music is the heart and soul of America. Because you know it is.

Here's the problem:
ReplyDeleteWhen kids listen to music not everyone is able to listen to the teacher at the same time as listening to the music. They just don't have that mental capacity. So instead of having it where we get really good scores from the people who can do both and extremely low scores from people who can't, we level off everything and choose the middle ground.
There's your governemnt for you. >_>
Of course, the problem can easily be solved by the removal of one headphone, or also toning the volume down to a respectable level.
ReplyDeletei so feel you.
ReplyDeleteI wanna talk but idk your email so here's mine:jesusfreaking4life@cox.net (i don't have an aol account so thats all i got) ttyl =D
ReplyDeleteTurning down the volume doesnt do anything if the person listening can't focus on more than one thing at once. PErsonally, I'm all for music in class but from a pure logical stand point, this is never going to happen because we will always have stupid people in this stupid world... Its a fact of life.
ReplyDeleteStupid people are an unfortunate byproduct of the wonderful concept of Liberty; it reduces the Darwinian process of Selection to the point of impotency. All of those stupid genes don't get eliminated by wild lions/tigers/*inserted vicious animal*.
ReplyDeleteA possible solution would be to base music access on Grades; above a C gets to listen, and to hell with the other people.
